Welcome to Drunk Week!

Matthew and I take a break from testing drink recipes...

Kids driving you crazy? Corporate downsizing got you down? Or maybe you just deserve a cocktail? We’ve got just the thing for you!

Welcome to Drunk Week—an entire week celebrating mischievous beverages! The Discovery Channel has Shark Week, so why can’t Kitchen Mischief have Drunk Week? And so it came to pass that Matthew and I gathered the troops on a recent Saturday night to test a host of drink recipes. And boy, did we! Let’s just say that after taste-testing about 23 different drinks (and their “shot versions”…thanks, Matthew!), neither of us were singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” the next day. Sorry, Mom! 😉

We’re kicking off Drunk Week with a Monday Martini—Matthew’s Orange Pom Pom. Pomegranate juice is all the rage right now, and full of antioxidants. Which counteracts the liver-damaging effects of vodka, right? Of course it does.

Keep checking every day for new recipes, including some awesome herb-infused spiked lemonades, as well as some real kitchen mischief…a few drinks that sounded great, but tasted (or looked!) like alcoholic pond water! Cheers!

Matthew’s Orange Pom Pom
3 oz mandarin vodka
1 oz pomegranate liquor
1 oz cranberry juice cocktail
Juice from 1 lime
1 cup ice

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.  Shake for 30 seconds.  Pour into chilled martini glass.  Garnish with a lime or lemon twist. Sip and relax. Makes one strong martini.

‘Oops, I Forgot’ Tip:
If you didn’t pre-chill your martini glass in the freezer, you can simply add ice and cold water to the martini glass before you start mixing up your drink in the shaker. Just slosh the ice water into the sink right before pouring.

Coming Tomorrow…
Take some Advil and drink lots of water, cause tomorrow we have three deliciously unique lemon/limeades for you…and how to make cool herb-infused simple syrups. Salút!

I do not want recipes, I just want to say that that photo is the best thing I’ve ever seen, like, ever. It needs to be used whenever someone needs a lift in their day, or a smile, or a change of undergarments. Congrats on almost making it through Drunk Week, too damn funny, both of you.
