Howdy! We usually don’t post on Friday, but I thought I’d do my part to remind everyone to head out to the Pepper Place Farmers’ Market on Saturday! It’s open from 7 a.m. until noon, and I promise…it is totally worth getting up early to go.
We just started going last year, after reading Barbara Kingsolver’s book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, and have been hooked ever since. I owe my Farmers’ Market “wow moment” to one of the homegrown tomatoes I picked up there. I’m an average tomato fan…love ’em in sauces, but not-so-much on their own, at least without lots of salt and pepper. I sliced one up, and just tasted it to see. I was AMAZED. I ate the whole thing…without any salt, which is truly remarkable, because I don’t eat salt without salt. That moment made a believer out of me…fresh is great, but local is best.
My sister’s coming in town, so she and David and I are going to head down and see what deliciousness we can grab. Get there early tomorrow for delicious arugula! There’s also tons of fresh herbs, artisan cheeses, homemade goodies, and more peaches than you can shake a stick at. 😉
Have a great weekend!
